Does anyone know how to make the Greek cucumber sauce called tatziki for dipping bread or whatever in it?!


Question: TATZIKI SAUCE

INGREDIENTS
1 (16 ounce) container low-fat plain yogurt
1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, and grated
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste


DIRECTIONS
1. Line a colander with two layers of cheesecloth and place it over a medium bowl. Place the yogurt on the cheesecloth and cover the colander with plastic wrap. Allow yogurt to drain overnight.

2. Lay grated cucumber on a plate lined with paper towel; allow to drain 1 to 2 hours.

3. Combine the drained yogurt, cucumber, garlic, parsley, mint, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Our family recipe is
1/2 kg (about 1 lb) Greek youghurt
2 Lebanese cucumbers peeled and seed removed
4-5 cloves mashed garlic
dried mint
salt


empty tub into a cheese cloth or similar and suspend it for 24 hours to remove excess liquid.
Coarsely grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess liquid and finely mash the garlic,
Combine yoghurt, cucumber & garlic, add mint and salt to taste

for authentic greek food, just feed greek food into your engine, you will get several to explore

dont know if its greek, but its my favorite


Cucumber Sauce

1/2 c Sour cream
1/4 c Mayonnaise
1/2 c Peeled and grated cucumber
3 dr Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper
Lemon juice; if desired

Combine ingredients in order listed.
