What types of food will you find at tapas in barcelona?!

basically tapas can be anything! it would take a year to write them all down! My favourites are batatas bravas- which are spicy potato chunks, fried chorizo slices, fried whiting fish, i like the big beans marinated, any of the marinated veggies (artichokes, red peppers, olives, you name it!) grilled baby octopus is nice too, there is no hummus or mini pizzas this is a western addition at probably american restaurant. Just be open minded and try everything, the spanish people really know how to cook. If you have money, make a reservation now for El Bulli- it was rated the best restaurant in the world, its like art on a plate. But when u go for tapas, the most important thing is the beer!

tapas- tiny plate of food
tapas translates in spanish to a small plate of food like an appetizer. (these plates are as small as a saucer cup)
you order as many as you like.
types of tapas:
olives, cheese, roasted red bell pepper.
hummus and a cracker
tiny pizza
cold meat and cheese
brushetta (toasted bread and spread)
olive spread, hummus, cheese...
tapas are a fun way of tring lots of different foods in very small portions.

Funny you ask this question. I was in Barcelona February of last year and enjoyed it very much. Tapas is a small plates...like a sampler or little appetizers. You also should try the seafood Paella and they are famous with that. And if you have a sweet tooth...try the Churros con Chocolate...make sure you ask someone where the best place to have that.

Enjoy your trip!
