杨梅(pronounced "young may") anyone heard of this fruit?!

Question: I was wondering what the english translation is for this fruit, if there is one. I've heard good things about it, and would like to try it, or at least see if there is anywhere near me that sells it, if you can even get it in the states. Here is a pic of it in case you know it by seeing it. Thanks!

The english name for the fruit is "Myrica rubra." It is also known as a Chinese Bayberry, Japanese Bayberry, or Red Bayberry.

I asked my mom, and she says you can't buy fresh ones in the States. You can however, purchase the preserved ones. If anything, you can check your local Asian supermarket.

Could not access your link. But based on the other respondent's Wiki link, I've seen the canned version with the English name of arbutus. Have tried it but didn't like it. Maybe the fresh fruit is better but I think there's lots of other Asian fruits that are much better tasting.

It's one of my fav.

You can buy them is packets - preserved and canned but not fresh.

Non-the-less, it tasted good in all forms I've had so far.

Available in Chinese shops.
