For Brazilians: Rice and mushrooms in white sauce?!


Question: I lived in Brazil for a year when I was young and I remember having this dish at several restaurants. It was mushrooms and i believe rice in white sauce. Can anyone please help me with the name for it?

arroz com sauce de cogumelo branco

3 cups nut milk or rice milk
1 cup water
1 onion, chopped
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 teaspoon tarragon
1/4 teaspoon dill weed
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 cup sherry
3 tablespoons cornstarch or arrowroot

Saute onion in 1/4 cup water for 5 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, except for cornstarch or arrowroot. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring often. Mix cornstarch or arrowroot in 1/3 cup water. Add to white sauce. Continue to cook and stir until thickened. Serve on rice.
