Is there such a dish as "Paskistany beef"?!

Question: When I was younger, my mother, who is not Pakistanian, did have some friends that were from that country. Because of this, she sometimes made dishes of that origin, but renamed them when she could not remember their original name.

I have been trying to find the recipe she use to make for a very long time and I'm hoping someone here can help me.

It was a beef dish, similar to a stew, but the sauce wasn't as liquid, more like a watered down gravy. There were carrots and onions and green peppers as well as mushrooms. I think there may have been some hotter peppers, but I would not be able to guess which ones. This was also a very spicy dish, I remember a clear taste of ginger, but there were other spices as well. We use to eat it with Pita bread.

If anyone could help me, I would be forever thankful.

Thank you!
