Have your sandwich ready for grilling.

Use to pans, one is small enough to fit the other.
Heat the large one to medium heat. When it is hot enough place your sandwich that is buttered on both side in the middle of the heated pan. Place a foil if you have on top of the sandwich and place the smaller pan so you can press down the sandwich. Making sure you are using an oven mitt so not to burn yourself, press down the sandwich with the smaller pan for about 1-2 minutes till the sandwich brown from the bottom side - making sure not to press to hard that it gets so flat. Then flip the sandwich, and do the same thing with pressing down on the sandwich. If you have a large griddle pan (pan with ridges, it is better.) You can also use some sort of weight instead of pressing down.

Put it in the oven on broil!!

use two fry pans, and squeeze your sandwich in between them.

Do you have a foreman grill? That works as well. As does a toaster oven.

george foreman grill...or put into the broiler

turn your cast iron fry pan over and toast on the bottom which is now the top...

Can i see your panini please?

put in oven and broil or fry it in a pan and use either another hot pan put on top to squish it hot. in pan flip then use a plate to puish down on jus toasted top and hold it should work half decently but a panini maker is champ

Use a toaster oven, if you have one. It's just as good.

toaster oven...

I use my George Foreman grill for that. Works great.

Put it under the broiler and if you want it to be pressed, then put a clean brick on top of it!

Yeah. Have you got a regular grill and something heavy? Make your sandwich, put it on the grill, then a plate, then something heavy. Then flip the sandwich and do grill it on the other side with the plate and the heavy thing on top.

-use an iron
-use a brick covered in foil to press it
-use another pan
-broil it in the oven and then cover it with foil or wax paper and press between 2 pans or with brick

My experience has been that a Foreman grill or broiler are the best alternatives if you don't have a panini grill.

I recently did a little comparison between various panini grilling methods:

Happy grilling!
