Bring in a bamboo bird cage and put in fake grasshoppers - they sell them on the market for good luck. Wear Kimonos,
make sushi rolls (make them with tortillas/cream cheese, grated cheddar cheese and ham and roll it up and slice them like a sushi (most kids don't like sushi, so I made this for a party for the non-sushi eaters at a sushi party)

First of all, Chinese and Japanese food is a little bit different. You know that right? If you want to wear kimono, you have to serve Japanese food. Kimono is Japanese traditional clothes. However, it is hard to wear because you need to learn how to wear and I think it is hard to find. I think you should find Yukata if you want to wear. It is much easier to wear but still, you need to learn how to wear though. If you get wrong, it is the way for the dead people.
I really do not know Chinese food well but if you can, why do non't you make real Chinese food? Like, 麻婆豆腐、回鍋肉 and so on. It is not difficult to make.
If you want to make Japanese food, I think you can cook miso soup, sushi, fried rice, curry and rice, gyu-don, yakiniku, and so on. They are not difficult either.
