You can buy food to prepare. Just no hot food.
you can't purchase prepared food such as the ones in the deli. in hawaii we couldn't buy any hot food with our food stamps. if it was prepared and cold we could. in washington we can't buy any prepared food. in hawaii we couldn't buy non-food items such as toilet paper and diapers. im not sure if you can in washington...i've been off of welfare since i got here...they cut me off when i turned 19. ask your case worker to be absolutely sure. if not go to the store (with some cash and your ebt card) and buy what you would normally buy when you didn't have food stamps and then pay for your stuff using the food stamps...if there were things that weren't covered they will give you your cash balance...then pay the difference.
