If I am not mistaken I do believe it is a sweet and sour sauce that is served with the fried wantons!. Here is a recipe of this sauce!.!.!.
SWEET AND SOUR SAUCE

Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, 2 TBSP!. corn starch, 1/2 cup cider vinegar, 1 1/2 cups pineapple juice and 2 TBSP!. soy sauce in a sauce pan!. Cook over medium heat stirring until sauce becomes thick and clear!.

It's CHINESE!. Most Chinese restaurants do not make their own sauces but rather buy them bottled!. You can too at any Asian market!.
