once you open the shell, there is a soup like liquid that flows, so one should be quick when slurping it!. I think sometimes that it is duck pee!.
The egg It is still circular in shape like a hard boiled egg!., the half side contains the hairy baby duck(complete with eyes and beak!.) crouched like a real human fetus!.(once you eat it, there is a little crunch into it!.) on the other half there is a yellow, veiny yolk, and a white rubbery part which cannot be eaten!.
if you happen to have the opportunity of eating balut, is suggest that you close your eyes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I raise Cavair chickens here in Cebu and they call that balut!.
The eggs that don't hatch are boiled and eaten, sometimes the chick was within hours of possibly hatching when taken (some people won't wait the extra day or two for the chicks to hatch) and they boil the poor thing alive and eat it like it was actually good or something!
I asked my brother in law if he wasn't afraid that he might get a rotten egg and he said, "that is the best balut"!
Not for me, no thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com
