I am from the south and I have never heard of those two items mixed together!. I usually make them seperate, but every one is differnt!!! I would not mix the two like that!. when i make those two items, it depends on the season and wether its holidays and all will depend on how i fix them!. usually i take pineapple slices, brown sugar and sprite when i bake the ham!. I pour the sprite through out the ham, i strategically place the pinapple slices, and pat brown sugar on the outer parts!. then bake it for about!.!.!.!.!.2 hrs at 350 degrees!.
the yams - i get real ones not the canned kind and bake them !. before i bake them, i peel the outter skin off and rub a little butter on them just enough to wear the brown sugar will stick to them !. then i will wrap them in aluminum foil and bake them for about 1 hour at 350 degrees!. If I'm making a casserole , then i slice the yams up , in a dish add pecans, or almonds, drizzle a mixture of honey and carmal sauce, over them!. then I add a touch of nutmeg/cinnamon/brown sugar mixed that up real good it is best if you can get fresh ground cinnamon/nutmeg!. then I add the bake it at 350 degrees fro about 1 hour!. just before it is ready i pull them out and add the marshmellos and stick it back in until there melted - so they dont burn just lightly melted!!!
when its done and cooled some I get bryers vanilla bean ice cream, and layer the ice cream at the bottom of the dish's and add the yams on top and there you go an instant casserole /dessert agian depends on the time of year and weather its a holiday or if that is what my family wants!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not in the same dish, if that is what you mean!. I will bake a big bone in ham, and we fix candied yams as a side dish!. I fix green beans with this!. Yes, it is really good!. I buy canned yams (Bruce's) and drain most of the liquid!. (save some) I fix the yams in a casserole dish!. I take about 3 TBLS of light brown sugar, 1/2 teas cinnamon, and mix it with the remaining liquid!. Then I mix it into the yams, and add lots of mini marshmallows on top!. Some people add fresh pecan halves, but I cannot have any nuts!. I bake it at 350 for about 35 to 35 minutes or until hot and bubbly!. Very good!. So I guess it is a southern dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
