Both Desi Chef and DSK 1015 are misinformed!.
Sushi is not necessarily raw fish!.
In Japanese cuisine, sushi is vinegared rice, usually topped with other ingredients, including fish (cooked or uncooked) and vegetables!. Outside of Japan, sushi is sometimes misunderstood to mean the raw fish by itself, or even any fresh raw-seafood dishes In Japan, sliced raw fish alone is called sashimi and is distinct from sushi, as sashimi is the raw fish component, not the rice component!. The word sushi itself comes from an outdated grammatical form of a word that is no longer used in other contexts; literally, sushi means "it's sour!."

You may not find it easily in Ludhiana!. Look for places ( usually 5 star hotels ) having a Japanese food festival!. Sushi is a Japanese delicacy and you'll surely find one at a Japanese festival!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Does your son know that sushi is raw fish!? Next time you are in Mumbai, you can eat at Wasabi in the Taj Restaurant!.

PS: I am NOT misinformed, I know exactly what sushi is and have eaten it in Japan many times!. But I am also a mother and I know what it's like to have a child on a mission! I also know how small and land locked Ludhiana city is, so where is this poor mom supposed to find her dear child fresh, authentic & traditional sushi in Ludhiana!?

If she simply tells him sushi is raw fish, I am sure he will prefer his paratha, dal & chawal like a good little ladhka and forget about sushi!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You might want to check with the Hotel Majestic Park Plaza, they have an Oriental restaurant called "Oriental Blade", or I bet someone there would know!. Just so you know!.!.sushi is not raw fish!.!.!.sashimi is!.

Just a couple of other notes!. Sushi is Japanese in origin, not Chinese, and no fish should have a "strong fishing smell", raw or cooked!. It means it is not fresh and should not be eaten!. I live in Hawaii and all our children are raised eating raw fish and sushi, and they are all fine!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sushi is raw fish and not suitable for children!. If you can find a place that sells sushi candy, they look like sushi pieces but are actually sugar or chocolate --- that will be better for your son!.

I also just wanted to be helpful for you and your son!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

sushi is authentic jap dish, but i am not sure if it is available in local resturant !.!.!.!. u can get it from any 4/5 star hotel!. but remeber, sushi in very expensive and it has a strong fishy smell!. if u dont eat fish much, u rather choose some other food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You wont find it unless if you go to an all out chinese restraunt, but i recommend not giving your 7 year old son sushi, cuz its raw fish, i dont think you want your son eating raw fishWww@FoodAQ@Com
