Are eggs considered meat??!

Question: Are eggs considered meat!?!?
my dumb blonde friend says that eggs are meat, is this true!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Eggs are generally considered poultry!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well, it depends!. Eggs are a protein and are thus put with meats on the food pyramid!.

For a vegetarian diet, eggs are not considered a meat (most of the time)

In a Vegan diet, they are considered as a meat!.

Eggs (if fertilized and incubated) grow into an animal and thus into a meat!.

So it all depends on how you look at it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

After they hatch, see below:

In most birds and reptiles, an egg (Latin ovum) is the zygote, resulting from fertilization of the ovum!. To enable incubation the egg is usually kept within a favourable temperature range as it nourishes and protects the growing embryo!. When the embryo is adequately developed it breaks out of the egg in the process of hatching!. Some embryos have a temporary egg tooth with which to crack or pip the eggshell or covering!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eggs are not meat but they fall into the same category on the food guide, meat and meat substitutes!.
