Question: Why do the british call pakistani/indian dishes "curry"!?
how did that start!.
and why did they do that!?

i once heard of this thing called vindaloo and i thought where did that peice of sht come from!.
also, chicken tikka masala!?!?

The Indians call the spice mixtures used to cook with 'masalas'!.!.!.in most masalas is the ground curry leaf, so the British just learned to call all of it curry!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most ethnic cuisines have "dominant" spices!. These would be those easily propogated in whatever region the cuisine is derived!. Indian and most middleeastern food is often seasoned with the spice "curry" -- garam masala, nugmeg, cardamom, fenegreek and others are also common!. Not knowing the exact name of a dish will result in the shortcut of naming the predominant spice!. You are from your question, clearly not an adventurous eater!. curry was actually invented by the english!.!.!.it was a dase of the army using up all the rotten meat they had left but covering it in spices in order to hide the taste

tikka mesala was invented in birmingham England!.!.!.some guy thought his curry was too dry so asked for a suace to pour on it!.!.!.and the mesala suace was born from this curry sauce and tom puree and a few added spices!.

vindaloos are just hot curries!.

asian food is great especially the real thing try an authentic biryani or rogan josh!.!.!.!.one made by an asian at home not the crap they serve us in restuarants!.!.!.these are changed to serve our english pallets and the real taste is taken away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

India/pakistan was a British colony for 200+ years!.

The British grew to love their cuisine which had infinite more spices and flavors than spotted dick or suet pudding!.!. Hence they brought these all back to the Mother Land and they've been as popular ever since!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

British call it curry because thats what Pakistanis/Indians who are in Britain call it!. Is there another name for it then!? Go into a restaurant and it's called curry!. It's not something the British have come up with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
