To fine diners all around the world....the Aussie Meat pie?!

Question: To fine diners all around the world!.!.!.!.the Aussie Meat pie!?
I'm an Aussie, who hasn't lived there for 12 years, I have lived in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the USA, I love all types of ethnic foods, and most nations can make SOMETHING comparable to their host nations national dish!.!.!.!.!.but NO other country can make anything comparable to the Aussie Meat pie!.
Does anyone think the Aussie Meat pie qualifies among the best of ethnic cuisines!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Of course, anyone who has been to "Harry's Cafe de Wheels" knows what an icon that meal is to Australians, and I have been there twice myself!. It DEFINATELY qualifies as ethnic cuisine, and in my opinion, ranks up there highly!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

when you get a good meat pie, it's really worth singing about, unfortunately most of them are rubbish!. I love trying the sausage rolls and pies from interesting bakeries and never go for chains or franchises!. I wonder if you ever went to the famous Robertson pie shop in Robertson NSW!? they do EVERYTHING in a pie lol and it's amazing!. But so many people are unable to get the pastry right or the meat is an unappetising glue with too much gravy!. BUT, when you find one with buttery flaky pastry on top and a base that doesn't collapse in your hands, and the meat is in wonderful tasty chunks!.!.!.!.!.!.!.and the gravy is just right!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.oh heaven! I think it definitely qualifies as an ethnic cuisine!. It may not be haute cuisine, but it's representative!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No - I think they're revolting!. A few years ago when Food Standards Australia New Zealand raised the minimum percentage of meat required in a pie to 25% (that's just one quarter) all the major producers, includng Four n' Twenty and Patties - were prepared to risk their reputations by loudly protesting *against* the legislation!. So what the hell is in the other 75%!? (Or more, if you include back when you were eating pies!?) Nick Carr, former premier of NSW, said of the sausage roll, that it was "fat in encased fat" -- too bloody right!

The BEST thing about Australia is that you can eat the very best cuisine of hundreds of other nations, and that's something I can honestly say I've never seen elsewhere!. You can't get decent Chinese/Thai/Vietnamese/Japanese food in the US or Europe, and you can't get decent Western food in Asia!. It's brilliant!. The only thing we're missing really is Central American food, but otherwise we're in clover!. Why waste your time with the awfulness of a pie!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh yeah the best meat pie!.!. (well that I have tasted)
"The brothers oven" !.!.in Canberra!. (Aust)
Its like chunks of tender steak in yummy not too peppery gravy!. And perfect pastry all over!!!

I also had a sausage roll from a bakery in Redcliffe (QLD) on the waterfront and it had hints of garlic and other herbs and spices!.
I think you can tell a good bakery by how many pies they put out for sale!. Both these places would start the morning with a whole display cabinate full of pies and sausage rolls!.

One could say it qualifies as our national dish though not very glamorous, but what better than a meat pie with tomato sauce on a winters morning!.!.!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
