Why do portuguese rolls have the tips on each end?!

Question: Why do portuguese rolls have the tips on each end!?
Answers:
Actually it because when they are hand formed there rolled under the hand into a cylinder shape, then they sometimes depending on the bakery split the tops which will excentuate the tips on the end, here in Toronto, Canada I buy them from my local Portuguese bakery, but I have 2 really good South American bakerys (Brazilian and Peruvian) that make killer ones along with egg tarts and cornbread and it has the tips too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
