Do ume (umeboshi) go bad? How long can I expect my jar to last before they expire?!

Question: Do ume (umeboshi) go bad!? How long can I expect my jar to last before they expire!?
I got a jar as a gift about 2-3 years ago, and just haven't had a use for them!. I've finally got an excuse to use them, but now I'm unsure if they're okay to eat!. I've heard they last "years" - but how long is "years"!? 3 years!? 5 years!?

Thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

As soon as you open the jar you will be able to tell!. If there is still liquid in it I'm sure it is ok because it is cured with Lot's of salt!. I bet though it will be really tart!.!.!.!.I luv em!.!. ps: did you know that the ume is very good for a sore throat!? Just suck on one & swallow the liquid slowly!. Works great!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Darling they are pickled, as long as their is no mould present, and it sounds like you have never opened them, they will be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are so salty, I think they just will dry out and grow salt crystals!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
