People in Italy don't make that dish, It is not a traditional italian dish!. There are too many better ingredients available in Italy for them to want to gorge themselves with a bastardized American recipe that probably originated in some corporate restaurant chain like the Olive Garden!. This recipe has not passed back to Italy, and even if it had tried to make an appearance, it would have failed miserably!.
Italians eat well, and have fantastic recipes that have stood the test of time!. I think an Italian would be shamed if he told his family that what they were eating was the American interpretation of Italian food!. Italian food is from Italy!. Period!.
And as for the Pizza comment!.!.!. that is a load of Nonsense!. Pizza was being made in Napoli,(Naples) in 1738, it wasn't until the 1940's that pizza actually started catching on in America, ( only because it was discovered by allied troops in World War II), before World War II it was known to Italian immigrants who had begun making it in the late 1890s to early 1900s!. To say that Americans brought the Pizza back to Italy is rediculous, they rediscovered it in Italy in the 1940's and brought it back to America, where it began taking off!.
Americans believe that Chicken Parmesan is Italian because they saw it on television!. It is sad!.!.!.!.the worst part is I'll bet they don't even make it with real Parmigiana Reggiano, or even Grana for that matter
The secret is out!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pollo alla Parmigiana is an Americanized version of Fettine (veal) alla Parmigiana the true Italian dish !. The only difference is the meat used ,otherwise Parmigiano cheese is used in both of these recipes !.
If you go in Italy you may ask for (Fettine alla Parmigiana ) but not the Chicken version of it!.
MIke !
Parmigiano Reggiano is Italy in the region of Reggio Emilia it's aged 24monthsWww@FoodAQ@Com
