I'm English and yes, I eat English muffins!. We used to just call them muffins and that's what you got, but now, with the invasion of the US cakey type muffin then you probably have to specify whether you want a cake type muffin or an English muffin!.
They're not crumpets either BTW for those who think they are!. Crumpets are not the same!. Neither are sweet, but they are both quite different!.

Crumpets I like toasted with just plain butter on, muffins I like toasted with bacon and brown sauce!.

you cant buy the ' english ' muffins they sell in canada in the UK, there is no such thing , crumpets are totally different, the crumpets sold in the uk and canada are pretty much the same!.
