Help! Dried Shrimp? Ebi (Dried Shrimp) What dishes can I make using those small dried meaty shrimp with?!
Does anyone know any delicious dish that uses this small meaty dried shrimp!. Got a box full of it!. I've been using it as an additional side snack with drinks!. Thought i'd make something using it, does anyone know any good main dishes/recipes!. I'ld like to know what dishes are called, & will try recipes from diffent parts of the world that uses this!. So much dried shrimp to work with & have guests to try!. Thank you for your help!.

Put 1 tsp oil in a hot pan or a wok!.
Add dried prawns and stir fry till prawns are heated on all sides!.
Add 1 cup water and bring to boil!.
Take off the fire and remove prawn from the water and keep aside!. Throw the water away!.
Use prawns now, as you would any fresh prawns, to make curries like prawns and potato curry, prawns and brinjal curry or any dish you fancy!.

Japanese (Kabocha) Pumpkin
2 lbs Japanese pumpkin (kabocha)
1 tablespoon dried shrimp (ebi)
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon sugar (or splenda)
1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
2 cups water
Cut pumpkin in half!. Clean out seeds and rinse leaving the skin on!. Cut into bite-sized pieces and set aside!. Combine remaining ingredients in a large pot over medium heat and stir until sugar dissolves!. Add pumpkin and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring once!. Continue to simmer another 10 minutes or until done!. Pumpkin is done when it is easily pierced with a fork or toothpick!. Do not overcook or the pumpkin will become mushy!.
Here is another variation!.
Pumpkin with Dried Shrimp

Ingredients2 lb pumpkin (kabocha)
1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
10 dried shrimp (ebi)
Dash of salt
1 cup frozen peas InstructionsPeel and remove seeds from pumpkin; cut pumpkin into 1-inch pieces!. In a large saucepan, combine the pumpkin, water, soy sauce, brown sugar, shrimp, and salt!. Cover and bring to a boil!. Lower heat and simmer, stirring or tossing mixture occasionally, for 15 minutes or until pumpkin is done!. Add peas and cook, uncovered, until liquid evaporates!. Makes 6 servings!.
I like to add ebi to this recipe for Szechuan Long Beans!.
