Japanese Curry Rice Recipe?!

Question: Japanese Curry Rice Recipe!?
I'm looking for a Japanese Curry Rice Recipe, Anthony Bourdain ate it on an episode of "No Reservations" when he went to Osaka!. The dish is basically a plate of curry rice, and you crack a raw egg onto it in the center!. I'm not looking for a recipe for Japanese curry, I'm looking for a recipe for the curry rice!.

Here's a picture of it:

Answers:
I'm from Kanto area so we don't add a raw egg to our curry!. But in Osaka, usually it's different:

(I think this curry is very similar to the one that you saw on the episode!.)

Anyway, the curry is easy to make:

1!. Make Japanese rice!.

*If you don't have Japanese rice, go to a grocery store and get Nishiki rice!. Follow the directions to make rice!.

2!. Make Curry without any vegetables, which means you just need to boil water and add curry cubes or a curry cube and mix them together!.

*If you don't have Japanese curry, again, go to a grocery store and get Japanese curry!. I've seen Golden Curry at Asian food section at a normal grocery store so just get that!. And when you open the box, you will find solid curry in a package!. You can break the curry into cubes!. I would say you probably need only one cube to two cups of boiling water or so!. If you think the curry is too thick, add more water!. If you think the curry is too thin, add one more cube!.

3!. Mix warm rice and warm curry together!.

4!. Add a raw egg on the top!

* I would recommend that you should get pasteurized shell eggs so you don't need to worry about getting sick!. Davidson's Safest Choice is the brand that carry pasteurized eggs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sorry, but your link doesnt work but luckily I saw that episode and know wxactly what you are talking about:

Oyakodon (oyako donburi) is one of the most popular versions of Japanese curry rice dish, is made by topping rice with pieces of chicken and chopped onion that have been parboiled in a salty-sweet liquid!. A raw egg is cracked over the bowl of hot ingredients, and the dish is served with the egg partially cooked!.

The link doesnt work - but Japanese curry is sold in a paste form at most any Asian grocery stores!.

You get veggies (potatoes, carrots, onions) sautee them in a little veg oil and then add the curry and water accordingly!.

The paste and potatoes make the curry into a thick curry like consistency!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
