How spicy / hot is turmeric?!


Question: How spicy / hot is turmeric!?
I've heard it's good for Crohn's disease sufferers, but am not keen on hot / spicy food!. Just wondereding if it's fairly mild or really hot!? or somewhere inbetween!?!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just made a chicken in the crockpot that had tumeric in the seasonings!. As everyone has been telling you, it isn't spicy at all, but it does turn things yellow!. So, whatever bowl you are putting it in, if you don't want it to get a yellow stain, make sure it is a glass or stainless steel bowl! also, if making a spice rub with it, you may want to wear disposable plastic gloves so that your fingers don't get stained!. This was the advice that was printed in the cookbook where I got the chicken recipe!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Turmeric is actually food colouring!.My mother uses it when cooking rice!.It has no taste!.It only changes the colour of anything you add it to, to yellow!.In fact the only strong thing about it is its colour!.

It's not spicy at all!. It is mostly used to give coloring to pickles and curry dishes!. I use it when I want to add a bit a of color to rice, just to jazz it up!.
