When are plantain ready to eat?!

Question: When are plantain ready to eat!?
I bought some plantain!. When I was at the market, I saw some with brown skin, but I bought the ones with yellow skin because I thought they are just like banana and should be eaten when it's yellow!. But when I got home and ate a raw one, it doesn't taste good, than I found out that this type of banana are meant to be cooked!. Should I wait for the skin to turn brown, will it be more sweet!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

My suggestion is to take the plantains and put them away in the cupboard or a drawer!. The peel will begin to turn dark and they will start to soften!. The darker the peel, the sweeter they will be when you eat them!. I like mine to be totally black!.

Remove the peel and slice them in a diagnal cut!. You will then heat some vegetable or corn oil in a frying pan!. When the oil is hot, put your banana slices in!. About medium heat so they cook through!. They are ready when they have browned on both sides!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Depends on what ur trying to cook!. Like if you are eating them as a dessert (frying them in a skillet) they need to be black/brown!.!.!.because they are really sweet!. If you are cooking them as a starch!.!.!.you can used them like you would a potato !.!.!.then they should be green (or just not black bc!.they are softer then as well)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
