What is so good about fish and chips?!
isn't it the national delicately of like Britain but whats so good about itWww@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Everything!. It's not a delicacy, though!.
Fish and chips (french fries, for Americans) is good, honest, inexpensive street food that started out in the poorer sections of London (East End) in the 1800s, fish (mostly cod) and potatoes being cheap and plentiful!. When prepared properly and eaten hot and freshly made, it's the best kind of fast food!. If you're familiar with the Long John Silver chain in the States, it's like that only a gazillion times better!. Fresh fish deep fried in batter served with freshly fried chips (french fries), sprinkled with salt and (for some, not me) vinegar!. It's the ultimate (usually) inexpensive British fast food!.
And I think another good thing is that places that make and serve fish and chips (known as chip shops, or chippies), are not parts of any chain that ruin things!. They're mostly small, locally owned places, and that makes it even better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's sort of like the British version of the American hamburger!. Both are good, but either side is probably wondering why the other eats it soooooo much!.
We have the Americanized version btw!. It's not technically street food (and I'm sure many a British national will decry its authenticity), but Captain D's and Long John Silvers basically serves what the British know as fish and chips!. That crispy, light, batter dipped fish fillet with all the little bottles of malted vinegar on each table!. Yum!. I could definitely see how it became a national treasure!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh God, where to begin!. It is such a basic and fulfilling meal (must have a pint of beer with it though!) The fish is greasy and set in paper (ideally a newspaper in a basket), and the fries! Ahhhhh! It's just so good, like fresh rain, first kiss, a nice compliment! (maybe not as good as first kiss)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think its the convenience of it and the fact that most british folk have grown up with it, meaning your basically forced into liking it, for at least your childhood!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
