Well, since I live in NYC, unlike any of the other contributors so far, I feel I should have a little expertise on the topic!. For everyday eating we are big on Chinese food and pizza!.

Contrary to its reputation, most of the pizza here is not that good!. That is why national chains are now able to get a foothold here despite selling mediocre stuff!. There still are a dozen or so exemplary places that sell the stuff and if you ever come to the Apple I can tell you about them!.

Chinese food varies in quality as well!. Every neighborhood has several places that all sell the same overly sweet under spiced stuff!. Again, there are places that stand out from the crowd!.

Since this city is the most diverse in the world, we have nearly every type of ethnic restaurant here!. Usually the best ones are in the ethnic neighborhoods that are everywhere!. We have a large Greek population, Jewish, Russian, African, Indian, Korean etc!., with neighborhoods corresponding to each group!. We even have places that specialize in British food, as bad as that is!.

Since we are such a large city that eats out so often we also have the unusual restaurant!. We have or had restaurants that specialized in Peanut Butter and jelly sandwiches, in cereal, dumplings!. We have many great steakhouses!. Diners abound!.

And you can get examples of all these things 24/7!. Just one of the reasons that New York IS the greatest city in the world!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
