The combination of creem cheese and avocado seems very popular to some Japanese while others do hate having westernized sushi!.
I actually had sushi with cream cheese 14 years ago here in the states!. When I saw the sushi in a menu, I needed to try it!. And it was good!.
Well, if it tastes good, I don't mind having cream cheese in sushi!. But as a Japanese, I still feel weird to see cream cheese in it because Japanese people are just not used to having cheese in general!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

My Japanese friends told me they never ate "sushi rolls" back in Japan, only hand rolls!. So all those fun little rolls we get in sushi restaurants and bars here in the US are basically "Americanized sushi" for our palates!.
The Boston roll usually contains salmon & cream cheese, it's 100% American sushi!. Traditionally, the Japanese would never never ever put cream cheese in their sushi or sashimi!. That's sushi sacrilege!! But maybe the more modern generation is willing to try new things!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The rolls with the "weird" stuff like cream cheese and avocado are an American thing!. The main fish meats and roots and stuff are authentic!. So no!.!.!. it's supposed to be a "cool, trendy" thing here to have the altered sushi!. "Real" sushi is that non-roll stuff you see in the pictures they have with the bar!.!.!. the bar of rice with fish (or egg or caviar/fish eggs, etc) on top!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
