Question: If chinese food is fattening how come chinese people are mostly skinny!?

I am from Hong Kong and I am a Chinese!. Chinese food is actually not fattening at all!. The Chinese dishes that you get from Chinese takeaway normally contains more fats and calorie that those we make at home!. I suppose it is always healthier to eat at home, because the mothers usually use much less oil than the restaurants outside!. also, the Chinese food that you have in America may be a trifle different from what we have, I suppose there are some modifications done to cater for your taste!.

You know, there are many more obese Chinese nowadays, but they are not in America, they are in China!. Back in Hong Kong, you will almost certainly fat people, because there are so many McDonald's and KFC and PizzaHut in Hong Kong, haha!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you go to china most of the boys there are chubby, because it's part of their culture to feed and feed boys!.
also, Chinese people don't normally eat what they sell in the Chinese takeaway, there's plenty of healthier alternate dishes they eat!.
They eat a lot more soup, rice and noodle dishes!.
A lot of the food at the takeaway shop has had a lot of salt, sugar and oil added to it, or it has been deep fried!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I def!. agree with the other answer above, the chinese food that we eat, is much more americanized then original chinese food!. most thing are fried, alot fried in dough, high in fat and sugar and sodium!. Chinise usually dont eat that, they eat alot of rice, no its not a joke, but usually its white and sticky and not flavored or salty, and alot of soups, but more liquid in consistancy and made up of alot of vegetables and rich in nutrients!. : ))Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been to restaurants such as Panda Express and also Chinese Cuisine and the difference is that restaurants such as Panda are more American, where other Chinese restaurants are more Chinese!. Panda has most of their foods fried with large portions, where Chinese restaurants have their food steamed-such as chicken feet, rice balls with shrimp inside & you control the amount (they serve many varieties so you eat little of each)!. also, maybe the tea they drink keep them skinny!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Chinese people eat mostly rice and green vegetables!.
The chinese food in restaurant is equivalent to our pizzas n tacos = party food!. Not everyday food!.

If you see the owners sit down and eat, you'll see that they eat mostly greens, rice and very little meat!.

They also drink hot tea as a replacement of water!.

a lot of chinese people are born with fast metabolisms and if you're asking about the chinese people directly from china, they mostly make their food out of scratch, nothing processed or overly sugary for flavoring!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it's mainly because they always do the Taiji dance or whatever they call it!. I always see many people, especially the old ones, will do this at public parks or gardens at around 6!.30pm!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
