Question about Sushi?!

Question: Question about Sushi!?
What is shrimp tempura!? and what is the little crunchy stuff they put on top!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Shrimp tempura is not sushi, unless you put it as a stuffing inside your sushi when you make it!.

It is Japanese dish where they dipped the prawn in eggs then flour then Japanese bread crumbs then deep fried it in the frying pan!.

The crunchy stuff I believe is the breadcrumb after it has been fried!.

I read it somewhere that tempura is introduced to Japan by the Portuguesee!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tempura anything (meats, veggies, fish) is just a lightly battered and fried food, served with sweet tariyaki sauce!.

You can even buy the mix for the batter in many stores (I've bought it at Vons)!.

shrimp tempura is not sushi!. Sushi indicates foods that use rice seasoned with sweet rice-wine vinegar!. In other words, sushi refers to the rice and does not mean raw fish/fish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tempura is a specific type of breading!. The crunchy stuff is Panko aka Japanese bread crumbs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
