i could learnt how to use chopsticks 4years ago and im 14 because i went to some posh chinese restaurant and there was a lot people using chopsticks there so i asked a waiter how to use it and the waiter showed me=)it only took me ten mins to learn how to use themWww@FoodAQ@Com
I learned in one meal, the food was delicious and there was no other cutlery except a giant serving spoon!. I love them now: it feels like my hand turns into a bird beak!.
My brother couldn't use them as well, and was to be visiting Japan and China for a year, and I showed him how to use them in 1 meal!.!.!.just by example and allowing no other cutlery!.!.!.it IS as simple as a knife, spoon, and fork with normal usage!. If you need directions: make sure your pointer finger is on top, guiding or pointing at your desired bite, and your middle finger is in the middle separating the 2 sticks!.!.!.the rest is for balance!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes!. Minutes!. It's actually easier than it looks!. You hold the top one just like a pen or pencil!. It's the only one that moves!. The bottom one goes in between the "crook" of your thumb and the hand and says (relatively) still!.
A bit of practise and a few lost peas, and you should be well away!.
In China, most food is eaten from little bowls!. With things like rice, you lift the bowl to your mouth with one hand and just "shovel" it in with the chopsticks!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

my best friend showed me the basics and than i just kinda taught myself how to use them!. it took me a few weeks to get comfortable using them but i think only now (2 years on) i can use them properly without havin to struggle most asian people look at me a bit wierd when i eat with my chopsticks like a pro!. its wierd that some asian people i know dont even use them (whether they dont like to use them or they just dont know how)!. its a bit sad that over the generations the use of chopsticks is slowly not being used as much!. some chinese restaraunt dont even have them on the tables u have to ask for them!. noodles taste so must better when u slurp them up using chopsticks!. i have a huge collection of chopsticks at home!. all different colours and patterns!. im sure im asian at heart!. their culture and everything is so interesting!. i love it! u should stick with it! goodluck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
My uncle is Japanese American!. He taught me to use chopsticks when I was 8 or 9!. I don't really remember how long it took, but not long!. I told him, "Uncle Joe, thanks for the chopsticks but mom never makes Asian food!." He told me that I could eat anything with chopsticks!. So I did!. French fries, pop corn, spaghetti, soup, and scrambled eggs -- everything!. There are two benchmarks to shoot for!. Can you pick a dime up from the table with it lying flat!? Can you eat extremely runny scrambled eggs!? If so, you got it!.
As to the people who think they aren't needed: Pooh! Try camping out and forgetting the flatware!. Couple of sticks and you're eating!. Sit at your desk and eat a snack with your fingers, or use a couple of pencils and still be stain free!. Piffle!. There is no wasted knowledge!. Only wasted opportunities!. Learn!Www@FoodAQ@Com

it took me a month to learn using it!.!.!.!.!.
i kinda practiced using it everyday whenever I'm having my meals!.!.!.
p/s:- well, you know , a friend of mine once told me that apparently we must not allow the chopsticks to touch our lips/mouth when eating!.!.only the food is "allowed" to do so!.!.but he also said nowadays it doesn't matter :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been using them for years (married to a Japanese man) and they aren't as hard to use as you might imagine!. Hold one like a pencil, stationary, and tap the other one to it to pitch food!. If all else fails, stab your food or scoop up under it!. After about 10 minutes of practice, you'll get the jest of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you are serious, then ask your local Chinese take-away for a pair of chopsticks, and practice at home!. After only a couple of hours, with, say, a peanut as the victim, you should be reasonably confident and able!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes!. It's pretty easy with a little practice!. Just watch how proficient users hold the sticks and try to imitate what they do!. If you can pick up a single redskin peanut at will, then you've cracked it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I had chinese the other night, they give you chopsticks (as well as standard cutlery) apparently everybody in my family can use them as if they are Asian themselves, but not me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i love using chopsticks!. it only took me a few times and now i'm really good at using them!. i use them for eating noodles, rice, sushi almost any japanese foodWww@FoodAQ@Com
Can use them!. Took about 3 weeks!. I am probably not quite as adept as the people I learned from, but it was fun!. Still use them occassionally and get enough to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No, I must have some lack of coordination!. I see children coping easily with grains of rice!.
Weakly I give up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
