Indian snack question?!

Question: Indian snack question!?
My friend Punam made me a snack her mom sent to her from India, it looked like multi colored, different shaped pasta, then she fried them in oil in a pan and they puffed up and got big!. She spiced them with cayenne and other spices!. I really liked them, but she doesn't know where to get them or what they're called!. Anyone have a clue as to what this snack is called!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
