How do they fish for eel for sushi?!


Question: How do they fish for eel for sushi!?
We were out to sushi tonight and I asked how they catch the eel and no one knew!. How is eel commercial caught (for sushi, etc!.) Nets, lines, traps!?Www@FoodAQ@Com


Answers:
For the smaller one they are netted in baskets, for the larger conger eels used for the classic Unagi style they are fished in the open sea around the tips of Japan and are line caught, in fact the one episode of the Japanese Iron Chef program they used them one of the Iron Chefs I think it was Michiba found a hook in one he was filleting!.

They are caught all around the world the same way, and in Europe they stew or smoked them as appetizers or main dish items, in Japan it is either for sushi, sashimi and they have some braised and stew dishes also, Chako style the sumo wrestler favourite dishes does alot with eels!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
