What is real Italian food?!

The Olive Garden is more American food with an Italian flavor!. It is inspired by "real" Italian food; however, it is modified for the American palate!.
If you know an Italian family, then you can probably get food, Authentic food from them, but again, you have to remember that the ingredients are American and the recipes probably have been tweaked over time so even then they may not be exactly the same as over in Italy!.
I am Italian and when I lived in Europe I ate in Italy and even things my family made as "authentic" had a different taste, mostly because of the difference in taste of the original ingredients!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Olive Garden is Italian food but it's so commercial( all the big chains are)!. The dishes just don't meet up to the standards of a fine dining 4 or 5 star rated Italian restaurant!.
But for the price, it's OK!.

real italian food is food made from tthe heart with flavor!. its best when family makes it or a really good restaurant (not commercial) with quality ingredients and made with love!. sounds cheesy but its true!. olive garden is okay in some ways but if you've had REAL italian food, you'd see the difference!. its like taco bell and real mexican food!. which is better!?!? the real thing!. get my point!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Olive garden is anything but real Italian food! If really want to know you have to go to Italy, eat at a non tourist restaurant or have lunch with an Italian family!. I've been living in the US 20 years and I have yet to find a restaurant that serves "real Italian food"!.

And here I am!.I'm Italian so I can answer better than anyone!. I don't know what is the 'olive garden', but here in Italy we ever have adopted the 'Mediterranean diet'!. According to this diet, we eat fish (not fried), pasta (with tomato sauce or with fish), and we usually use Olive oil and not so much the butter!. We also eat meat, cheese, fruits and vegetables!.
We mustn't forget the main Italian food, the one that I most like, that's been created in Italy: PIZZAS!!!!!!!!!!!
In general this is what we eat!.
If you come in Italy, make you sure to eat those things!!!!!!!!

I am italian and i travell a lot!. anytime i was in a foreign country and i went to an "italian" restaurant or i bought "italian" food it was terrible!.
