Is iodine ok for Rajasthani tapwater?!

Question: Is iodine ok for Rajasthani tapwater!?
I'm mostly going to drink bottled when I go there but I've got some iodine droplets for occasional usage!. Iodine only kills things that are alive though, it doesn't neutralise chemicals!. Is there any chemical pollution problem in Rajasthani tapwater!? Anyone used iodine there and come back in one piece!? :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Not to put a damper on your trip, but Indian tap water is beyond help and unfit for human consumption!. The poor sanitary conditions and lack of hygiene makes it lethal, it is a hot zone of parasites and other microorganisms that will wreak havoc on your body!. Iodine will not help!. Most people living in India boil the local water and use UV filtration systems before drinking!. Stick to bottled water, brush your teeth with bottled water, try not to swallow any water during your shower and definitely do not consume any beverages off the street (lassi, chutneys, iced drinks!.!.!.!.)!.

Otherwise, do enjoy your trip!. If you are staying in a 4-5 star luxury hotel, the water in the restaurants is fine!. Always carry your own water bottle during traveling!. Do not trust people selling you bottled water at tourist sites (it's often tap water in a nice bottle)!.

Rajasthan is lovely, you will enjoy the palaces! Have a great trip and be safe and healthy!Www@FoodAQ@Com
