Answers:
Imitation crab meat is primarily made of Alaskan Pollock meat, but some Asian manufacturers use Golden Treadfin Bream and White Croaker!.

Vegans do eat imitation meat, but not when it is made of other animals or animal secretions!. Many vegans see faux meats, however, as overprocessed junk food and limit their intake of it for health reasons!. Oftentimes imitation meats will include other animals like you have seen with the imitation crab meat or in the form of "natural flavoring" - a phrase vegans are very suspicious of!. At least half of all commercial meat imitations contain milk or egg, so the ones which don't include these ingredients often label themselves as vegan or even "Vegan Certified" to help the consumer save time!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Imitation crab meat are actually made with surimi, which is a fish that has been cured and shaped to resemble crab legs!. The Alaskan pollock, another type of fish, is also a primary ingredient!.

As for whether vegetarians can eat it or not, it depends on what type of vegetarians they are!. Some vegans eat veggies and fish but not poultry and other red meat called pescetarians!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Imitation crab is most often pollock, which is a kind of fish!. Sometimes it's a mix of various kinds of fish!. I'm not sure about imitation lobster, but I suspect it's also either a fish or a mix of fish!.

Vegans can eat "imitation meat" as long as it's actually meat-free!. There are some out there, supposedly (I'm not vegan, so I don't seek it out), but many imitations are still meat of some kind!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is made with
- fish protein (pollock, cod or whiting
-water
-sugar
-wheat starch, corn starch and modified food starch!.
It also contains less than 2% of the following
-sorbitol
-egg whites
- potassium chloride
-artificial lobster or crab flavour
- fructose
-sodium tripolyphosphate
-tetrasodium pyrophosphate and colour

It contains, fish protein and eggs so I am not too sure that vegans can eat this!.
Hope this helped:)Www@FoodAQ@Com
