What exactly are British chips?!
Sounds like a dumb question, but to me they roughly look like french fries to me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

They are not exactly like french fries! Chips are the staple diet of British folk lol! You take a potato, peel it, cut it into lengths and however thick you want them to be (its your choice) put them in the frying pan for roughly 5-10mins!.!.et voila!. The main difference is that British fries are thicker with more potato in each one and infinitely tastier (especially home-made chips like my Gran used to make)

Actually traditional British chips are more like fat fries - the kind you get with Fish and Chips!.
In, for example, Macdonalds over here on the menu and things they still have them as 'fries'!.
also in most restuarants, when it has 'fries' on the menu they give you the thin ones but when they have 'chips' its mostly the fat ones!.
Like Chunky Fries!.!.!.!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I ama former chef and we call our fries chip up here to, in the UK as some have said the "chips" are a bit chunkier (and they use a waxy potato), and now the double frie them in a veg oil or mix, for years the best ones came fried in either lard or beef tallow a heavy greasy beef based fat, they not only cooked the "chips" but add a bit of flavour!.
The Brits are more health wise now, I travel there 2 times a year and when in Liverpool visiting my friends, I like to have one fish and chip dinner in a traditional chip shop, and a full english breakfast just to clog my artery's a bit, even have the chip shop curry sauce on the side for dipping, I am a Canadian and eat my fries with gravy up here like that on occasion too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
