What kind of tea do Chinese restaurants use for "hot tea"?!
Every time I eat Chinese food I always order their hot tea to drink and it almost always tastes the same no matter which restaurant I go to!. Does anyone know what kind of tea they use and how they brew it!? It's absolutely delicious and doesn't taste watered down or bitter like what you get from grocery store tea bags!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is because it is loose and leaf tea, they also use one with a weird name called Gunpowder tea, it is greyish and looks like gunpowder, that or the previously mentioned Jasmine, it is alot more floral and complex, gunpowder is more subtle and plain, oolong is not bad but to expensive to use in chinese restaurants, it can be a blend to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
They use Oolong tea, and you can get it at any oriental supermarket!. Get the loose tea; it's best!.
You can also try Jasmine tea, but I believe that the taste of Oolong is much better!.
Just put the loose tea into a tea pot, pour very hot water over it, and let steep!. You may have to experiment a bit to see how long you have to leave it there to become the strength you like!.

If you go to China, there is a whole tea menu with lots of different teas from different regions and with different flowers etc!. Mostly if you just order 'tea' it is green tea or jasmine but in China it will be different in each restaurant!. Some are really expensive too but delicious!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Jasmine green tea for the most part, I think Twinings has a really close one!.
Jasmine Green Tea
Lightly scented with jasmine flowers for a refreshing tea with an alluring aroma!.
They have it at World Market, or you can get it online!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
