Help! I need to bring a dish from my culture to work for pot luck, any help?!

Question: Help! I need to bring a dish from my culture to work for pot luck, any help!?
I was born in England and raised in Canada
We are doing this event at work where we are all going to bring in dishes from our culture as a pot luck

I have no idea what to bring!. I would like to make it something simple, not too time consuming and not too expensive!.

Since I wasn't raised in England I don't know what to take from there!. Being raised in Canada I don't know what other cultures eat to make Canadian food distinctly Canadian!.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try sheppard pie - it is easy and very traditional english meal!. You may substitute the lamb for pork and it will be cheap as well!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Take a look at the list of Canadian Cuisine on the site, below!.
I'm sure that you will find something that you could make or get an idea for a pot luck dish by making a few changes to one of the dishes listed!. Good Luck!

Tourtiere (Meat Pie) is sort of the national dish of Canada!.!.!. at least in Quebec: It is very good!.

Pastry for 2 crust pie
1-1/2 lbs!. ground pork or combination of pork and beef
1 sm!. onion finely chopped
2 cloves of garlic crushed
1 tsp!. salt, pepper to taste
1/4 tsp!. each ground cloves and cinnamon
1 tsp!. ground sage
1 c!. water
2 slices day old french bread torn into small pieces!.

Filling: Brown the ground pork in a non stick skillet and add the onions, garlic and spices!. Add the cup of water and bring to a boil!. Lower heat and simmer for about half an hour!. Stir in the french bread to absorb the juices!.

Heat the oven to 400 degrees!. While the filling cooks line a 9" pie pan with the pastry, add the filling and cover with the top crust and crimp the edge!. Make a few slits in the top crust to vent the steam and bake for 30 min!. or until golden!. Serve warm or at room temperature with ketchup and pickles!.

The other dish that seems to be an old Canadian favorite is yellow split pea soup!. I think the Tourtiere is delicious and different though, and very easy with premade pie crusts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
