Answers:
yes I have!.
in Tijuana!.
my old roommate would take his mother to T!.J!. to get acupuncture and we would go to a neighbor hood away from the tourist spots and go to a restaurant that only had one item on its menu:

" Birria"

they bring you a big plate (more like a huge shallow bowl) of goat meat that has stewed for three days
they also place in front of you all the tortillas you can eat!.
(don't look for a fork though, there is no such thing in a establishment like this)(OLD SCHOOL!)
and you get onions, cilantro, radiches as toppers it was one of the best meals i have ever had
you eat it with plenty of cervezas frios (tecates)

also
same roommate
at our house
we cooked , following his mothers instructions, full pigs
we would buy, shave, skin, butcher, and cook them ourselves
carnitas!
using a bond-fire and a big metal wash tub type of basinWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, and it was wonderful (though much of it was quite spicey)!.
While visiting a friend in SC, we were invited to a Bar BQ by his Mexican friends and neighbors!. I don't know if I expected tacos and burgers, but the menu was so - - - wild!.
I have always referred to it as a Mexican Luau, because they dug a hole and lined it with leaves and put in a whole animal (pig, lamb, or calf I learned later)!. The meat was cut by the host and eaten in a soft tortilla with sauce - hot sauce!. The side dishes ranged from corn on the cob to a marvelous rice dish that was spicey and served with limes which supposedly helped with the "heat"!.
The meal was accompanied by a band which played almost all Mexican songs and dancing was done by everyone, including the children!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes !.!.!.!. in Mexico!. Funny, but the restaurants in Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas, and Acapulco seem to sell have tacos on their menus too:) !.!.!.!.!. I actually prefer lighter "Mexican" cuisine, like fish with fresh veggies - or ceviche!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, and it is very good!. The "Mexican" food that North Americans are familiar with (tacos, burritos, etc!.) is actually Tex-Mex, not Mexican food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Go to Mexico and eat where the Mexicans eat!. The food they choose to eat is very different from the Americanized "Mexican" food we see here!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had some really good spanish food in Tijuana!. The tacos were really good!. If you go to Baja Mexico, make sure to try out the churros which have different fillings in themWww@FoodAQ@Com

Considering the amount of Mexican-Americans in this country, I would think that most people have had "real" Mexican food at some point!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yep!. In a little fishing village not far from Cancun called Puerto Morelos about 30 years ago, in a locally owned cantina!. Muy sabrosa!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't know if it was owned by white people or not, but I had rockfish with a spicy tomato sauce in a Mexican restaurant before!. It was very good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes and it is quite different tasting than TexMex which is what 99% of Americans are used to!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
