What are your thought on Indian food?!

Question: What are your thought on Indian food!?
My fiance took me to an expensive Indian restaurant this weekend for their lunch buffet!. I tried just about everything and I didn't like any of it!. I usually love foreign foods like Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Italian, etc!. but for some reason I hated the Indian cuisine!. Maybe I tried the wrong things!. I had some yellow mushy stuff that looked like there was corn in it!. It was bad!. Then I had curried chicken and it tasted like chicken broth!. It was plain!. Then i had this bright red chicken that looked barbecued but it was flavorless!. I also had saffron rice and it tasted like chicken broth!. Almost everything I tried tasted like chicken broth!. Even dessert was gross!. I tried the rice pudding and the sweet carrots!. Was there something I should have tried that would have been better or do i just not have a taste for Indian food!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
IMO buffet food is usually bad, regardless of how much you pay for it!. They use spices and condiments that can stand being heated for hours, so it usually tastes terrible!.
Real restaurants where they cook to order are usually much better!.
I'm very surprised that the food was bland- Indian food usually spicy and somewhat pungent!.
I'm not a huge fan of curry because I don't like any kind of gravy or sauce on my food, but I like other Indian dishes!. Samosas are great- they are an appetizer, but they're enough for a meal!.
Naan is also great!.
The only type of curry I like is vindaloo because it's very spicy!.
Tandori chicken is also good and it's mild!. It's grilled in an extremely hot clay oven, so I don't think it's possible to make it taste like broth!.
If you like custard or custard-based ice cream, you'll probably like Kulfy (dense ice-cream)!. I find most other desserts too sweet for my taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your palate just wasn't used to the mix of flavors!. Dessert may have had rosewater in it, and that's an acquired taste!.

I really like certain Indian food, especially the kormas and dildars; those are made with coconut milk, they tend to me more creamy, rich and sweeter than the other, more spicy!. I love the rice dishes, and the bread!.

I agree, if it was "flavorless" then it wasn't good Indian food, but I think it is just so different than what you're used to, it wasn't any good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well!.!. I enjoy some Indian food!. However!.!. they are known to use curry in many dishes!. Maybe you just don't have a taste for curry!. Other foods can be quite bland if you are used to or attracted to bold flavors!.

have you ever tried Turkish or Brazilian food!? Try those next if you get the chance!.!. OMG they are they best!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You didn't have good food then!. There is nothing about Indian that's bland!. Even the white rice is flavored with cardimum and cinnamon!. My favorite Indian dishes are Murg Makhani (Butter Chicken), Channa Masala (Spicy Chick Peas), with Basmiti, and Garlic Naan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Remember that episode on family guy where brian had to go to the vet and almost died beacuse he ate indian food, or what he thought was indian food!.
