Have you had kimchi soup?!
I know the ingredients vary!.!.!.!. most of the kimchi soups I've had have a few quarter-sized circular weird thingies!. The texture is similar to the white part from a boiled egg!.!.!. but it's more gelatinous!.!. kind of like tapioca balls!. Does anyone know what these are called!? I'm planning to make kimchi soup but I don't know what part of the [korean] grocery store they would be located at!.!.!. knowing what they are actually made of and/or called would be of great help!.

I am a former chef and eat alot of Korean food and buy it to, what you had was fishcake, it is made like the artificial crab meat, but they add more colours, swirl it with other coloured fish paste and it is rolled and steamed, they use it more as a garnish in soup and stews, you can buy it at Korean grocery store, just ask for it!.
Here in Toronto Canada, I have a soup known as Pork Bone soup, it is a pork broth made with the neck bones and they add bean sprouts, kimchi, onions and noodles!. The fishcake you had is not fishy in taste but a nice colourful garnish for alot of Korean dishes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
