I am a former chef and worked in Japan in the 1980's and had the "Full" fugu dinner, it starts with a sashimi made with the fish, then a soup from the bones and veg followed with a tempura with the remaining fish flesh and a selection of veg!.
I felt some tingle to my lips, but in Japan you have to be a licenced sushi master and trained in the cutting, cleaning and preparation of the fish, the poisonous innards are locked in a bucket and sent to an incinerator to be destroyed so no accidents happen, it is available in frozen fillet form here in North America and Europes, not the same but it is fugu so you can say you had it and be one to survive it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well ive heard on some discovery thing lately, that in order to DIE, you need to eat ALOT of the blow fish,
cause even the "safe"part that they eat contains trace amounts of the poison, so in order to die you need to eat like a super huge amount!.
and apparently it like leaves your mouth numb alittle or something!.!.!. it kinda like a drug!. i dont know!. but i would definetly try it once!.

I catch "puffer fish" in my fishing hole, and keep two or three of the larger ones to eat!. A professional fisherman showed me to how to clean them safely!. Wear rubber gloves, cut skin all the way around below the gills, take a pair of needle nose pliers and loosen the skin below the cut enough to get your fore and middle fingers under it!. Wash your gloves first, then push the body out of the skin from the tail out!. Cut the tail off, and carefully open the abdominal cavity and avoid cutting the liver or the gall bladder!. pull the guts out, and place the dressed carcause in a salt water bath!. Been eating them for approx!. 12 years!. No side effects!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Overly expensive and potentially dangerous!. also, I've been told, the taste leaves a lot to be desired!. The thrill seems to be placing your life in the hands of a person who is an expert in preparing this dish so that the diner survives, and in doing something few people have done!. ~ Personally, I'd rather have a good steak !Www@FoodAQ@Com
