Question: Which Vietnamese food to introduce to a friend who doesn't do asian food!?
I have a friend who has never really liked Asian food, extra sensitive to smells and what not!. I figured I could get her to try some Vietnamese foods, but I'm not sure what to get her to try first!. Any ideas!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
People who are sensitive to smells, I've found, are not fond of Vietnamese food!. Even things that, by all measures, taste yummy, tend to put off people due to the vinegar and fish sauce!.

That said, I think that lemon grass chicken, beef, or pork are non-threatening!.

If your friend is willing to give it a go, pho might work!. Stay away from the tripe and go with flank and some other cut of meat that's familiar!.

I happen to think that it's easier to get someone to eat Japanese (even sushi!) than Vietnamese, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sensitive to smells!? Introduce her any dish that its ingredients can find in her country!. For example: boiled chicken dipping in salt+pepper+lime juice, all the components of this dish are popular worldwide but the connection between them is different!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pho is a good start!. Bun is another, but the fish sauce may throw her!. Pho is good as it is a nice mellow flavored soup and she can add the type of meat, basil, sprouts, lime, chili, and plum sauce as she sees fit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Shrimp & vegetable Vietnamese fresh spring rolls(Goi Cuon) or the Deep fried version call (Cha Gio) with sweet & sour dipping sauce is the one that might work with your friend!. they are no strong smell i cooked this for My western guests so many time & they like it
Hope it work for youWww@FoodAQ@Com

lemongrass chicken is pretty safe!.!. ive always liked that even when i was a picky little brat who didn't like many foods!. also goi cuon and eggrolls!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pho is probably the best bet!. But I'd try to do take out, since there can be some really strong smells in the restaurant!. And order her chicken!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
