FRENCH FOOD to bring to school? idk what to bring!?!
I'm having French Food Day in my French class at school, and I need to bring something in!. It has to feed 40, and I was going to just bring some cheese until my mom told me it's really expensive for that much! So do you have any cheap ideas of French food or drink that I can make/buy in large quantities!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I had this day in French Class also, when I was in High School!.I bought eclairs but there were deviled eggs, creme puffs, baguettes, quiche,Escargot(on the expensive side though)!.Crepes are great, they can be eaten as breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage or as a dessert with whipped topping, cherries, bananas, fudge etc!.It's versatile, I liked it!.Chocolate mousse and Creme Brulee are more options!.I hope I helped!Www@FoodAQ@Com
First, French food is expensive!. That's why the French are SLIM! They eat small portions!. I have just baked 4 Quiches, which I will freeze for a party in 3 weeks, I always bake ahead so I've forgotten all the work that went into it by the time it is served!.
Why not make a couple of apple tarts!? Apples are not too expensive!.
You make the tart crusts in a tart pan,10 or 12" round, buy the crust to be used, with only water to add!. Roll out and place in the tart pan, press into the sides, cut off excess crust, prick the bottom, so it won't rise up during baking, put wax paper into it over the pastry crust, pour dried beans, in to hold down the wax paper and bake only 17 minutes, ow add apple sauce that has been sweetened a bit more, and add lemon juice, put in the bottom of tart crust, spread evenly, then cut peel and core a few apples, start on the outside circle of the tart pan arranging the same size slices of apples, overlapping, and arrange the smaller pieces in the center, and bake for 25 minutes at 325!. While still hot out of the oven, make a glaze with apricot jam and paint the top of tarts!. If this is too much work, then forget about becoming a pastry chef! also look it up, French Tart Recipes, Google it!. Have fun!.

French onion soup is delicious and very cheap!. Fry the onions slowly in olive oil with flour until they're golden!. They'll reduce in volume a lot!. Then add beef stock!. If your budget runs to it, serve with croutons or slices of crusty French bread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
