Is there a difference between Chili Powder and New Mexico Chili powder?!

Question: Is there a difference between Chili Powder and New Mexico Chili powder!?
If there is a difference do they taste the same!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I use both!. They are made from different chilis and have different tastes!. My mom uses the new mexico ones when making tamales!. Neither of them should have any other added flavors!. It's just regular dried and ground chilis!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I will throw an additional one in here:" Chilli powder" (note the two l's) differs from both in that it contains only ground chillis (varieties vary according to where it is made)!. I believe in the US you call it "Ground Chilli"!.

The Chili powders you refer to often are labelled "Mexican Chili powder" outside the US as they contain other ingredients, most often Cumin and sometimes Bay Leaf!. Obviously the taste differs

Other that this Teja's has it right!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If the recipe simply says "New Mexico Chili Powder" I wouldn't really know how to interpret it!. Generally, New Mexico chiles refers to the hatch green chiles!. In that case I would guess that it would be a green powder chili instead of the regular red but I have never seen that!. I have never heard of "New Mexico Chili Powder" before!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The state dish for Texas in United States is Chili!. Its ground beef and pinto beans cooked with a spice mix and tomatoes!. This spice mix in United States is called Chili powder!. The Chili powder in United States has Chili peppers, Cumin powder, Oregano, and Garlic

The Chili powder in Mexico has nothing to do with the dish called chili!. Chili powder in Mexico, is basically ground up red chili peppers!. It has no other spices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

chili powder uses cayenne pepper #7 heat range
New Mexico's has red and green chili pepper #4 heat rangeWww@FoodAQ@Com

Ya chili from New Mexico is different because it is grown there!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
