Is ghee supposed to be solid at room temperature? I made my own, and I'm concerned I didn't do it right.?!
I made some ghee last night!. I basically let it simmer for about 20 mintues on low heat!. There was a lot of white foam on the top, but on the bottom it was just clear!. I'm not sure if I let it go long enough!. Was there supposed to be something on the bottom!? I put it in a jar and put it my cabinet!. It is now solid!. It smells like butter, still!. Is this normal!? How do I know if I did it correctly!?
I would appreciate any help you can offer!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ghee firms up into a white, sligthly yellow tinged "sludge" at room temp and it's definitely a strong solid in the fridge!. When heated it melts into a deep rich golden liquid!.
Usually milk solids are left at the bottom and your kitchen should be filled with the characteristic aroma of ghee!. This depends on the type of butter you used and the amount of fat content within the butter!. It sounds like you did fine but here are some good recipes with step by step photos, instructions & great tips:

Yes it will get slightly solid!.
You did it right as long as you got all the fat solids out and kept only the clear portion!.
I wouldn't worry about it!.
Use it, it's fine!.
Yes "slightly solid" is the correct texture!.
