Can someone tell me a traditional Romanian dish?!


Question: Can someone tell me a traditional Romanian dish!?
I am going to my girl's place for thanksgiving dinner and i would love to make her a traditional Romanian dish or try to atleast!!! I just want to bring a little of home to her since she is so far from it!.!.!.!.any suggestions!?!? And something medium in the complexity department would be appreciated, i can cook but im no jamie oliver!!!! Lool!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cheese with caraway/
Brinza cu chimen

1/2 lb/250 sheep cheese, 4 oz/100 g butter, 1 teaspoon caraway (ground very fine), 1 teaspoon paprika, salt, radishes

Sieve or grind the cheese!. Mix with butter, add caraway and paprika, salt if needed!. Mix well!. Place on a plate and garnish with radishes cut in flower shapes!. This paste can be used for sandwiches too!.

Tomatoes stuffed with vegetables/
Rosii umplute cu zarzavat

3 boiled potatoes, 2 carrots, 1 parsnip, 1 celery root, 2-3 tablespoon peas (optional), 1 chopped onion, mayo, tomatoes, salt, lettuce

Boil all the vegetables except the onion, tomatoes and lettuce!. Let cool then cube everything and mix with the chopped onion and salt!. Mix the vegetables with mayo and then stuff the tomatoes from which the insides have been removed, with the mixture!. Refrigerate!. When serving, place them on a bed of chopped lettuce!.

Salad(These are main dishes in romania)
Beef salad/
Salata de boeuf

4-5 potatoes, 1 carrot, 1 parsley root, 1 parsnip (optional), 1 large celery root, a handful of green peas, 2 pickles, 1/2 lb/250 g poultry breast or beef sirloin, salt!. For mayo: 1 hard boiled yolk, 3 raw yolks, 1/2 lb/250 g oil, 1 tablespoon mustard, 1 tablespoon lemon juice

You get the best beef salad by boiling the vegetables with the meat (soup)!. Cube the potatoes and all other vegetables!. The same goes for the meat and pickles!. Place all in a bowl, add the peas, salt and let rest until you prepare the mayo!. Sieve a hard boiled egg!. Place it in a bowl!. Add a little oil, mix with a spoon, add a raw yolk and add oil, a little at a time, stirring continuously in the same direction!. When it starts to thicken, add another raw yolk and again oil a little at a time!. Do this until all yolks and all oil is used up!. Then add mustard, a little at a time and stirring continuously and the lemon juice, again stirring continuously!. Add 3/4 of the mayo to the meat and vegetable mixture and mix well!. Add salt if needed!. Arrange on a serving platter!. Smooth with a knife and then cover with the rest of the mayo!. Garnish with a few olives, hard boiled egg white, or egg slices, pickled red peppers, parsley, etc!. Try to shape flowers, other designs!.

Celery and apple salad/
Salata de telina cu mere

2-3 celery roots, 2-3 apples, 2 tablespoons oil, vinegar to taste, salt

Julienne the peeled and washed celery and mix with the peeled and thinly sliced apples!. Add oil, vinegar and salt!.

SOUP
Soup (sour) with green beans I/
Bors de fasole verde I

1 qts/2 l water, 1/2 qt/0,5 l borsh, 10 oz/300 g green beans, 1 small carrot, 1 onion, 1 small parsley root, 4 tomatoes, 1 green pepper, 1 tablespoon oil, 1/2 teaspoon flour, chopped parsley and dill, salt

Set to boil in salt water, the finely chopped carrot, parsley root and onion!. Add the beans, cut into pieces!. When it starts to boil, let it for a few minutes, then add the pepper and peeled and seeded tomatoes (sliced)!. Fry the flour in the oil, add some vegetable liquid to it and then add this mixture to the soup, stirring as you do it!. Let boil until the beans are tender!. Add the borsh and chopped parsley and dill and let boil for a few more minutes!. You may serve this soup cold as well!.

POULTRY
Chicken with eggplant/
Pui cu vinete

1 chicken, 3 medium eggplants, 1 onion, 1 tablespoon flour, 3-4 tablespoons oil, salt, chopped parsley Back to Hen with eggplant

Cut the eggplants in quarters, lengthwise, and then halve each quarter!. Salt and let sit for at least a half hour!. Then slightly squeeze each piece, dredge with flour and fry in oil!. Saute the chicken pieces, covered, in a tablespoon of oil!. Add the grated onion and 2-3 tablespoons of water!. Arrange the eggplant pieces over the chicken, add the parsley, cover and let boil, at low heat, for 10-15 minutes!. Then move the pan to the oven and let it bake until ready!.

Apple whip/
Spuma de mere

1 lb/500 g apples, 2 1/2 cups water, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 oz/15 g gelatine

Wash and quarter the apples, remove seeds and boil until soft!. Drain the liquid in another pot and sieve the apples!. To the strained apple liquid, add gelatine, dissolve it, add sugar and return to heat for another boil!. After it has cooled down, pour the apple liquid in a tall bowl, add the apple puree and whip until foamy!. Pour in cups or glasses and serve!. You can use other fruits to prepare this!.
