Mmmm!.!.!.I make the best baked French onion soup in the world! Haaa!

I roast my sliced onions in covered pan, with a little butter, white wine, brown sugar, and thyme, for about an hour on a low setting!. Then I add my homemade beef stock and let that bake awhile longer!. Next, I remove the soup from the oven, and place it into a pot and let it simmer with a lid on minimum heat for another 20 minutes or so!.
Next, I place a baguette slice into the French onion soup bowls (with side handles)!. After adding the soup, I place a generous amount of Gruyere cheese on top and bake until melted!. I find Gruyere cheese works the best, as it does not harden the way other white cheeses like mozzarella or Swiss would!. Gruyere stays nice and soft while your eating the soup, and it has a wonderful flavor as well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Traditionally that is how French onion soup is made, a slice of baguette and topped with gruyere cheese!. Yours sounds good too, if your not into cheese!. I love cheese too much to pass up adding it to the dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
