I live in South Texas USA and our hashbrowns are 1/4 inch sized diced potatoes fried in oil over medium-high heat until crispy golden brown!. We add diced onion, and for us Tex-Mex eaters we also add sliced jalapenos while frying, then drain on paper towels!. We serve them hot with shredded cheddar cheese, and/or ketchup, salsa, or hot sauce (Tobasco), or what the Waffle House Diner calls "Smothered"!.!.!.chili, cheese, peppers, and onions!. We also have Potatoes Rancheros which is a Tex-Mex dish of diced fried potatoes with Ranchero Sauce (Tomatos and Peppers w/ liquid broth to make into a spicy sauce)!. Then we have Mashed Potatoes which are boiled potatoes mashed with milk, salt-pepper, and butter!. We also have baked potato which is a whole potato wrapped in foil and baked at 400 degrees for 1 hour!. Then you unwrap it and slice open the top and cover it with butter, sour creme, chopped fried bacon bits, and green onions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Our Waffle Houses sell a variety of Hashers!. There are usually 10 ingredients that you can add to them!. Cheese, Salsa, Egg, Ham, Green Pepper, Onion, Jalepeno and stuff!.
