Answers:
If your looking for vegetable shortening there are quite a few brands you can try!. I'm not sure if they're halal or not though!.

White flora is a vegetable shortening and Crisco is another one you can get crisco on e-bay as it's american I haven't seen it being sold at local supermarkets in the UK!.

There's also Trex vegetable shortening you can find it at any large tesco supermarket!. Hope this info will help you with your halal vegetable shortening hunt ^_^!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

In the UK the store brand are fine, they sell Crisco, and Atora veg suet for puddings is fine also, I am a former chef and travel to the UK quite alot, and have a chef friend in Liverpool, he uses no lard for his cooking and even the chip shops have gone away from the lard and beef tallow for there frying, to a veg oil or solid shortening for cooking now, the batter is the only thing you have to watch, some use beer in there mixes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

read the package at the back as it gives you all the ingredients and if you see its all vege then its halal to use then if it mentions they are other ingredientd you think its not halal then you stay away from it!.!.

Now a days packaging has gotten really good for people to make their own mind up wether they are able to use or eat the product itself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Veg shortening is halal!. Check the internet for halal brands in the UK as I'm from USA!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
