According to Quran, there are three types of foods: Halal, Pak, and Harram!.
Halal means 'permissible' foods
Harram means 'Banned foods'
Pak means 'not banned, but not permissible' foods
Harram foods are: Flesh of Swine (Pork), 'Flowing Blood', and Alcohol!.
Meat becomes Halal when the animal is slaughtered according to rules set forth in Quran
The Goat is not Harram, but it be Pak, if it was not slaughtered according to Quran!.

I think Muslim population is just trying to promote awareness of Halal, just like Kosher is promoted for Jewish foods!.

Halal is just a food permissible to be eaten by a Muslim

Some people have mentioned Gelatin not being Halal!. It is not true!. Gelatin is obtained by boiling bones hoves skin and tissue!. If the slaughtered animal was Halal, the gelatin would be Halal!. If the slaughetred animal was Haram, gelatin would be Harram!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
